Cerebral Thermoregulatory Control of Brown Adipose Tissue: a PET/fMRI Study

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Introduction: For the defense of body temperature, efferent signals from central thermoregulatory networks regulate metabolism in specific thermogenic tissues. Among them, nonshivering thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue (BAT) has been implicated as a heat source for the defense of body temperature in cold environments. The presence of coldactivated BAT depots is highly variable in humans for unknown reasons and this variability might be associated with differences in CNS thermoregulatory control. As a result, central thermoregulatory brain pathways could be responsible for physiological differences observed in peripheral tissues.

The Effect of Aerobic Exercises and Octopamine Consumption on Changes in Gene Expression of Caspase-9, NLRP3, AIM2 in Brown Adipose Tissue of Rats after Intoxication with Deep Fried Oil: An Experimental Study

Background and Objectives: Regular aerobic exercises along with herbal supplements can control inflammation. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercises and octopamine consumption on gene changes of NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2) and caspase 9 in brown adipose tissue in rats after consuming deep fried oil. Materials and Me...

Regulation of Brown Adipose Tissue Activity by Interoceptive CNS Pathways: The interaction between Brain and Periphery

To maintain thermal homeostasis, specific thermogenic tissues are under the control of central thermoregulatory networks that regulate the body's response to thermal challenges. One of these mechanisms involves non-shivering thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue (BAT), which is activated in cold environments in order to defend the body against physical damage as a result of hypothermia. The obj...

A novel thermoregulatory role for PDE10A in mouse and human adipocytes

Phosphodiesterase type 10A (PDE10A) is highly enriched in striatum and is under evaluation as a drug target for several psychiatric/neurodegenerative diseases. Preclinical studies implicate PDE10A in the regulation of energy homeostasis, but the mechanisms remain unclear. By utilizing small-animal PET/MRI and the novel radioligand [(18)F]-AQ28A, we found marked levels of PDE10A in interscapular...

Measurement of human brown adipose tissue volume and activity using anatomic MR imaging and functional MR imaging.

UNLABELLED The aim of this study was to assess the volume and function of human brown adipose tissue (BAT) in vivo using MR imaging. METHODS BAT volumes under thermoneutral conditions in the cervical areas were assessed via water-fat contrast using the Dixon method and via water-saturation efficiency using fast spin-echo and T2-weighted images. The existence of cervical BAT was also assessed ...

Effect of Resistance Training, Testosterone, and Phoenix dactylifera on Gene Expression of Adiponectin and GLUT4 and Oxidative Stress Markers in Adipose Tissue of Rats

Background and purpose: The use of testosterone enanthate has increased in athletes, especially in resistance trainings. The present study aimed at comparing the independent and interactive effects of resistance training, testosterone, and Phoenix dactylifera extract on the expression of adiponectin and GLUT4, as well as some oxidative stress indices in brown adipose tissue in male rats. Mate...
